Semi-scale model of the latest version (Type "E") of the proven multi-purpose helicopter manufactured by AGUSTA. The aerodynamic and functional modification of the original also has a positive influence on the model:
- The vertical stabiliser is of drastically reduced size compared with the model´s predecessor, and this requires less power from the tail rotor for sideways and reverse flying.
- The retractable undercarriage is simpler and more robust, and the inward-retracting main undercarriage legs are housed in sponsons attached to the sides of the fuselage, leaving the interior of the fuselage largely unobstructed.
The white pigmented GRP fuselage features no internal bulkheads, and is supplied with window openings and other openings pre-cut. The top opening in the moulding is so large that the UNI-EXPERT MECHANICS or UNI-MECHANICS 2000 can be installed completely assembled (including tuned pipe); the mechanical system is then attached to the fuselage floor by means of four screws, and braced by two further attachment points at the top. As standard the tail rotor drive system is based on a 2 mm Ø spring steel shaft, but the alternative rigid drive system can also be accommodated; this system is used in the ULTRA STAR 2000, and is available as a tuning accessory under No. 4451.100. The mechanically actuated retractable undercarriage is available under No. 4458.4. A standard (low-cost) servo is used to operate each undercarriage leg; a system which keeps set-up and adjustment simple. The top fuselage fairing, the fuselage tail section and the main fuselage are all supplied as GRP mouldings with a high-quality gloss white surface, and this means that you can obtain an attractive finish just by painting on the contrast colours and applying the decal set. The motor is started from above by means of a hexagon starter adaptor with freewheel, No. 1621.
